having been away for a couple of weeks, getting back into the blog is surprisingly strange! i don't know if any other bloggers identify with this but when you haven't posted for a while, it feels like you need to have something significant to say and the longer the gap the more significant it should be. whereas when you are just blogging you get on a roll and it doesn't seem to matter....
anyway that's all by way of me getting back into action. had a great holiday b.t.w.! personal news is that i have a new cousin jed (or is that ged - i forgot to ask) born last night - the gift of life is an amazing thing. and then this weekend is the greenbelt festival which i know i've mentioned before several times but it is finally here. there is a great programme and loads of fantastic worship (he says with an unbiased view). grace will be doing a service, labyrinth will be installed and i'm doing worship a couple of mornings with doug gay using some songs from the new hymns album 'old hymns in dub' which has just arrived from the manufacturers (looking great btw - i'll post more about this on my return and we'll add it to the proost web site next week so that you can order it) and songs from the alternative worship album we are working on for january release. so i'm looking forwrad to all that. fellow blogger daniel miller is coming over so it will be fun to meet him. hopefully see some of you there. i'll let you know how it goes and no doubt steve collins will be updating his smallfire website next week with lots of pics as well.

yet more news about sites. flicker is a site for anyone interested in using images in worship (video/still). it looks like early days but seems it will be a good place to go for ideas, chatting with others using/making images for worship, and for resources. the first dvd is scheduled for early 2003. this is great news. there's still such a lack of resources in this area. well done adam and mark. it seems there is so much creativity around at the moment - it's a very exciting time.
last night there were at least 10 groups at the london alternative worship get together 'london zoo' which was brilliant. thanks to vaux for hosting.

well occasionally just once in a while you come across something that totally surprises you. clubbers temple has just done that for me. it is a great site - a lot of effort and creativity has gone into this. it's definitely worthy of being in the worship trick list so i make that no 15 i think. the animation is really good. flash is such a great programme!

tonight in london there is a get together of alternative worship groups round the capital. it seems there are at least ten that we know of - amazing! i guess we're kind of spoiled. i should have put this on the blog a while back but forgot... oops! but anyway here's the info
Good biology says "Cooperation increases survival chances". So Vaux and Grace and Epicentre are inviting anyone interested in mutated church to join them in a transgenic experiment upstairs at Horse (not with a Horse). Intended as an informal opportunity to talk-shop, exchange ideas and develop relationships. We want London Zoo to be a place where the M25 alt worship scene can come together in a relaxed context. To encourage, cross-fertilize, sharpen and envision.
Upstairs at Horse: 124 Westminster Bridge Road, SE1 Transport: Lambeth North (30 secs) Waterloo (5 mins) Time: 1/8/02 8pm
probably worth mentioning too that there is also a get together for anyone involved or interested in alternative worship on the monday night at greenbelt 8pm in seminar tent 2.

a bit about me...
i am a londoner; christian; dad; postmodern (whatever that means - i know at least that i'm not modern); director of an independent record label proost which we set up to release music without being subject to christian record labels who had a frankly unimaginitive approach to music at the time as far as we were concerned; a member of grace , an alternative worship community in west london that has been an inspiration, lifeline, home, great bunch of friends, provided an arena in which to be creative about faith and worship and culture; i'm also part of the wider alternative worship movement/scene in the uk where i have lots of friends sharing the same dreams and struggles; an ideas person; a husband; national youth co-ordinator for cms; involved in various creative projects, the most successful of which has been the labyrinth which has been on a roll since we first installed it in st pauls cathedral in 2000; a mac user; co-ordinator of the worship at greenbelt arts festival where we have tried to create a space for new/creative/alternative worship especially in the new forms venues - a good place to visit if you want to encounter lots of creative uk worship in one go; writer (albeit a novice) with a few articles in books, mags and the web; a chelsea football supporter; involved in youth ministry - i have been for 15 years now - in the uk at least many people involved in alt worship want to avoid being labelled youth ministry as it's a convenient way for the church to write off what you do and the people involved aren't by any means youth (though some are), but i live in both arenas and think there's lots of overlap and creative conversation and ideas to be shared between the two; songwriter; lover of music especially the ambient, chilled, dub, instrumental end of things; lover of good food, belgian beer and conversation;
